Brisbane Hypnotherapist Clive Westwood Group Hypnosis Award Winning Anxiety Hypnotherapy Brisbane

Group hypnosis with Brisbane hypnotherapist Clive Westwood

Group hypnosis can be a calm way to explore relaxation, stress management, confidence or anxiety-support techniques alongside other people with similar goals.

A group session may use guided relaxation, breathing, visualisation and focused suggestions around a shared theme. It is not stage hypnosis, mind control or a test of whether you are “hypnotisable.”

Every participant remains able to think, respond and choose throughout the experience. No one should be pressured to share personal information or do anything that makes them uncomfortable.

What group hypnosis can offer

A group format can help participants recognise that they are not alone in experiencing stress, anxious thinking, self-doubt or difficulty switching off. The focus is usually on general calming skills rather than personal therapy.

A guided group session may help participants practise:

  • slowing down a busy mind

  • relaxing physical tension

  • using breathing to feel more grounded

  • returning attention to the present moment

  • developing a calmer response to stressful thoughts

  • visualising a manageable next step

  • creating a relaxation routine at home

No outcome can be guaranteed. People experience hypnosis differently, and a group session may not be suitable for everyone.

Group hypnosis is not individual treatment

A group session cannot assess your full history, provide personalised treatment or explore private concerns in the same way as a one-to-one appointment.

Individual support may be more appropriate if you have severe anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, obsessive thoughts, low mood, a complex concern or a strong preference for privacy.

Participation should be voluntary, respectful and suitable for the group’s purpose. Group availability and suitability can be discussed before booking.

What hypnosis is—and what it is not

Hypnosis is a relaxed, focused state. Some people feel very calm, while others simply notice they are more focused or absorbed in the guidance.

Hypnosis cannot:

  • control your mind

  • make you reveal secrets

  • force you to act against your values

  • guarantee relief from anxiety or stress

  • replace medical, psychological or psychiatric care

  • make decisions for you

The purpose is to support your own goals and wellbeing, not to take away your choices.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose control during group hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is not mind control. You remain able to think, respond and choose throughout the session.

Do I have to talk about my personal concerns?

No. Participants should never be pressured to disclose personal information in a group setting.

Is group hypnosis suitable for severe anxiety or trauma?

A group may not be the right setting for everyone. Speak with a GP or qualified mental-health professional if symptoms are severe, persistent or worsening, and discuss whether individual support is more appropriate.

Can I use a group hypnosis recording at home?

Yes, while resting safely in a quiet place. Never listen while driving, cycling, operating machinery, walking near traffic or doing anything that requires full attention.

Individual results vary. Hypnotherapy is complementary support and is not a replacement for medical, psychological, psychiatric or emergency care.
