OCD & Intrusive Thoughts Hypnosis | Award Winning Anxiety Hypnotherapy Brisbane | Clive Westwood

Intrusive thoughts can feel upsetting, confusing or hard to switch off. You may find yourself repeatedly analysing a thought, seeking reassurance, checking, avoiding situations or feeling anxious about what the thought might mean.

This hypnosis page is for general relaxation and complementary support only. It is not a treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), intrusive thoughts or any other mental-health condition.

OCD and intrusive thoughts need appropriate support

OCD and distressing intrusive thoughts should be assessed by a GP, psychologist, psychiatrist or other qualified mental-health professional. They can help you understand what is happening and discuss evidence-based treatment options.

Clive Westwood Hypnotherapy does not diagnose or treat OCD. Hypnosis must not replace appropriate medical, psychological or psychiatric care.

If intrusive thoughts include fears of harming yourself or someone else, or you are worried about your safety, seek urgent support. Call 000 in an emergency, or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 for 24-hour crisis support.

Complementary hypnosis for separate personal goals

For someone already receiving appropriate professional care, hypnosis may be discussed as complementary support for a separate wellbeing goal, such as:

  • Practising relaxation and settling the body

  • Managing general stress and tension

  • Improving sleep routines

  • Building confidence in everyday situations

  • Developing a more compassionate inner voice

  • Supporting a broader wellbeing routine

  • Taking time to pause and refocus

No recording or session can promise to stop intrusive thoughts, remove compulsions or cure OCD. Individual responses vary.

You are not your thoughts

A thought, image or urge can be distressing without being a reflection of your character, values or intentions. However, it is important to discuss intrusive thoughts with a qualified professional rather than trying to manage a serious concern alone.

If this recording increases distress, stop listening, bring your attention back to your surroundings and seek appropriate support. Do not listen while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that requires your full attention.
