Quit alcohol Addiction Hypnosis | Award Winning Anxiety Hypnotherapy Brisbane | Clive Westwood
Alcohol dependence can be serious, and deciding to change your drinking can feel difficult. If alcohol use is affecting your health, safety, relationships, work or daily life, you deserve specialist support without judgement.
This page is not an alcohol-treatment programme. Hypnotherapy does not provide alcohol detoxification, withdrawal management, rehabilitation, medical care or crisis support.
Speak with a GP or alcohol and other drug service first
If you drink regularly, heavily or feel dependent on alcohol, seek medical advice before trying to stop suddenly. Alcohol withdrawal can require medical assessment and support.
Contact a GP, alcohol and other drug (AOD) service, psychologist, psychiatrist or rehabilitation provider to discuss safe and appropriate care. Read Healthdirect’s information about addiction withdrawal and alcohol dependence.
Call 000 immediately if there is a medical emergency, seizure, severe confusion, hallucinations, danger to yourself or others, or thoughts of self-harm.
What hypnotherapy does not provide
Clive Westwood Hypnotherapy does not provide:
Alcohol detoxification or withdrawal management
Alcohol addiction treatment or rehabilitation
Medical assessment or treatment
Crisis intervention
A replacement for AOD, psychological or psychiatric support
A substitute for a treatment plan from a GP or specialist service
Do not use hypnosis instead of seeking appropriate medical or specialist alcohol support.
Complementary support for a separate personal goal
If you are already receiving appropriate professional care and are medically stable, you may ask whether complementary hypnotherapy is appropriate for a separate, non-medical goal, such as:
General stress management
Relaxation and sleep routines
Confidence for positive life changes
Motivation around everyday routines
Creating time for calm reflection
Every person’s circumstances are different. No outcome can be guaranteed, and Clive will be clear about whether hypnotherapy is suitable for the goal you wish to discuss.

Frequently asked questions
Can hypnosis help me quit alcohol?
Alcohol dependence requires specialist medical and alcohol and other drug care. Hypnotherapy is not detoxification, addiction treatment or a substitute for professional rehabilitation and medical support.
Should I stop drinking suddenly?
If you drink regularly, heavily or feel dependent on alcohol, speak with a GP or AOD service before trying to stop. Withdrawal may require medical support.
What if I have severe withdrawal symptoms or feel unsafe?
Call 000 immediately if there is a medical emergency, seizure, severe confusion, hallucinations, danger to yourself or others, or self-harm risk.
Is this a confidential service?
Clive offers private one-to-one sessions. However, confidentiality does not make hypnotherapy a replacement for appropriate medical, addiction or crisis care.
Can I enquire about complementary support?
If you are receiving appropriate specialist care and wish to discuss a separate stress, sleep, confidence or routine goal, you can enquire about an appointment.
